Elettra Wiedemann's Impatient Foodie
I've been traveling a lot recently, both for work and pleasure, and spending most weekends I'm in California up in Tahoe. While this means getting to spend time in beautiful places, and enjoying the benefits of new experiences and distance from everyday responsibilities, I've started to miss the comfortable feeling of being home. It's a good problem to have, but I've been finding myself fantasizing about spending time at home making home cooked meals. There's something about cooking that epitomizes the comforts of being home, slowing down, and creating things with my own two hands.
I first stumbled across Elettra Weidemann a couple years ago, when a link on a blog introduced me to her Vogue cooking series Elletra's Goodness. I was quickly drawn in by the fun banter, the glimpses into the life and kitchens of some cool people, and Elettra's laid back and inquisitive personality. I made my way through all the videos and was left wanting another season. Unfortunately there seems to just be the one, but I was excited to see that Elettra has turned her passion for cooking into a new site, Impatient Foodie. It's a mix of recipes, cocktails, reflections, and advice, mixed with bright, crisp photography. One of my favorite pieces of advice seems simple and obvious, but has been a game-changer.
