Inspiring Women: Amanda Brooks
A couple years ago, I picked up a copy of Amanda Brooks' book Always Pack a Party Dress. The reviews were great and the subject seemed like something I'd like, but I didn't expect to fall in love. Amanda's stories about her career in fashion captured me, and her wise reflections hit a chord. I loved the humor and humility she brought to her experiences, and I tore through the book in less than a week (to the detriment of sleep). Before I finished, I had a copy on the way to my sister in New York, who I knew would love it as much as I did.
Fortunately, Amanda has published another book, Farm from Home. After leaving her role as Fashion Director of Barneys, Amanda packed up her fashionable life in NYC and moved to a rural cottage in the Cotswolds. Farm from Home is a more personal look at her life on the farm, with a healthy dose of style. This book includes the parts of Always Pack a Party Dress I loved so much: the reflections on life in Amanda's refreshingly authentic voice.
For even more inspiration, Amanda has now opened a whimsical shop in the Cotswolds, Cutter Brooks.
